Yahoo Finance is planning to launch a standalone version of its Yahoo Finance app this year.

article News Corp. (NASDAQ: NWS) stock was down 1.4% in after-hours trading after Yahoo Finance reported it will be launching its own version of the Yahoo Finance mobile app later this year — though the stock has already lost 1% of its value in the past two months.
Yahoo Finance CEO James Quincey also said the new app, dubbed Yahoo Finance for Education, will be launched this year on iOS.
Yahoo will launch its own iOS app in 2017, he added.
Yahoo Finance, which launched in January, provides access to financial information from Yahoo Finance.
Yahoo said the app will be open to all users.
It will be available to both iOS and Android users, according to Quinceys remarks at a Wall Street conference in Tokyo.
The company also said its first-ever mobile app will also be available for iPhone, iPad and Android smartphones.
In April, Yahoo said it will open up its mobile platform to third-party apps.
